Transformation a tired old house into a modern, stylish, café in the centre of the Traralgon sports precinct

With a concept in mind to create a food café right in the heart of the sporting precinct of Traralgon, Virtue Homes own project was the purchase of an old run down house on the corner of Franklin Street & Davidson Streets, Traralgon. The old house was extended and heavily renovated to create a fantastic trendy café.
The entire building was restumped and reclad and a close working relationship was formed with Latrobe City Council and West Gippsland Catchment Authority to ensure the café met all the requirements of a flood area as well as an access for all design.
The café was fitted out with a full commercial kitchen including 2 x large cool rooms, new grease traps, a 14 meter disabled access ramp and disabled toilets.
The project took a total of 4 and a half months to complete and was open just in time for the Australian National Junior Tennis championships.
The standout feature of the café is the beautifully handcrafted timber bench and dining table. The large existing oak and gum trees were maintained and protected throughout the project and has created inviting and well-established feel to a prominent street corner in Traralgon.
